NC Electric Meter School

Meter School LogoThe NC Electric Meter School and Conference provides you with a unique opportunity to learn all aspects of metering in a school environment. The basic principles and Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are provided for metering personnel interested in the Single Phase or Polyphase equipment levels. Knowledge of metering applications and the processing of information gathered from metering is presented in the Advanced and Management levels of instruction. Exposing Advanced and Management level attendees to problems, resources and solutions allows them to meet the changing environment of the electric industry.

The NC Electric Meter School and Conference brings together meter personnel from the electric utility industry to present information on common problems, standard practices, procedures and new technologies. The school is open to any and all persons interested in this opportunity.

The purpose of the N.C. Electric Meter School is to provide an opportunity to learn all aspects of metering in a school environment. The basic principles and continuing education credits (CEUs) are provided for metering personnel with interests in Single Phase or Polyphase equipment. Knowledge of metering application and the processing of information gathered from metering is presented in advanced and management levels of instruction. Exposing advanced and management level attendees to problems, resources and solutions allows them to meet the changing environment of the electric industry.

You will earn Continuing Education Units (CEU's) upon full completion of the Single Phase or Polyphase sessions.

The N.C. Electric Meter School and conference is an approved sponsor of continuing professional competency activities for N.C. Professional Engineers and Registered Land Surveyors. Upon course completion, each participant may receive Professional Development Hours (PDH).

Meter Calibration Service

An added benefit is being offered to you during the conference at no additional charge. After registering and while attending the conference, you may bring your transfer standards for testing. The Reference standard that will be used is a Radian Research RD-23. The RD-23 is the most accurate portable standard available anywhere, with a worst case accuracy of +/-0.01% across its entire operating range. You'll receive an appropriate certificate to provide the "Report of Calibration."

You'll benefit from comprehensive coverage of these and other critical topics in four levels:

Single Phase

The Single Phase session is designed for the entry-level person. Classes are designed to provide a basis for understanding metering principles, power and complement the student's metering skills gained on the job. Sessions offered cover overviews of a power system, basic math, AC and DC theory, meter testing safety and all areas related to Single Phase meters. The classes are designed to prepare students for the next level of classes relating to Polyphase meters.

Polyphase

The Polyphase session is designed for the purpose of providing attendees with an overview of the basic information needed to understand Polyphase metering. This session covers selection, installation, and maintaining Polyphase meters. The session provides training on programming Polyphase meters. Students also will receive training in the selection, use, and maintenance of current and voltage transformers.

Advanced

Topics include complex metering theory and concepts, high-end metering applications, Power Quality and other advanced metering applications, tools and equipment. Individuals with previous metering experience or education that have a desire to learn about a specific topic presented in this session will benefit.

Management

The management session is for the purpose of providing a forum to present the newest technologies that have been developed, and handling issues associated with managing metering. It provides an opportunity to update utility employees with examples from utilities and vendors of ways to utilize and implement the technologies available in the metering industry from management's perspective. The session also provides a forum for topics dealing with managing metering including handling routine operating issues, cost effective operations, and implementation of projects.

The N.C. Electric Meter School and Conference is an endeavor to bring together meter personnel from the electric utility industry to present information on common problems, standard practices, procedures and new technologies. The school is open to any and all persons interested in this opportunity.
