Japan Center LogoThe NC Japan Center is accepting registrations for non-credit summer Japanese language classes. Youth (middle and high school students) and adult courses are offered.


Click on the individual classes to register for that specific class.

Any course without sufficient enrollment may be cancelled. All courses will meet at least one time. All students are encouraged to register, regardless of level. Please call 919.515.3450 for placement information.

All classes require pre-registration. Registrations for kids introduction class and adult classes must be received by April 20, 2008. Registrations for youth classes must be received by May 31, 2008. (After registration cut-off date, please call NC Japan Center at 919.515.3450) Class size is limited. Once class size is full, registrations will no longer be accepted.

All classes run for 15 weeks, meeting one night per week.

Kids Introduction Class (for ages 4-7):

Kids Introduction Class: Tuesdays, May 6 - June 24, 2008 (8 weeks), 4:30 - 5:10 pm. Children who are interested in learning the Japanese Language are recommended to take this class. $59

Youth Classes (for Middle and High School Students):

Youth Summer Introduction Book Camp: Monday - Friday, June 16 - 20, 2008 (1 week), 9:30 am – 12:00 pm. This class is for beginning students who have not previously studied Japanese. $69

Youth Summer Book Camp 2: Monday - Friday, June 23 - 27, 2008 (1 week), 2:00 – 4:30 pm. New students will need to talk to an instructor before taking this class. This class is recommended for those who took Youth II to IV during the spring semester. $69

Youth Summer Book Camp 3: Monday - Friday, June 23 - 27, 2008 (1 week), 9:30 am – 12:00 pm. New students will need to talk to an instructor before taking this class. This class is recommended for those who took Youth Intermediate during the spring semester. $69

Adult Classes:

Beginning II: Thursdays, May 1 - July 24, 2008 (13 weeks), 7:00 - 9:00 pm. Basic Japanese language: listening, speaking, writing (Hiragana) and reading. "Japanese for Busy People I." There will be no make-up day for this class. $149

Beginning VI: Mondays, May 5 - August 4, 2008* (13 weeks), 7:00 - 9:00 pm. Basic Japanese language: listening, speaking, writing and reading. "Japanese for Busy People I." There will be no make-up day for this class. $149

Intermediate III: Mondays, May 5 - August 4, 2008* (13 weeks), 7:00 - 9:00 pm. Basic Japanese language: listening, speaking, writing and reading. "Japanese for Busy People I" from Lesson 10. There will be no make-up day for this class. $149

Advanced: Thursdays, May 1 - July 24, 2008 (13 weeks), 7:00 - 9:00 pm. In this class you will focus on developing grammar, vocabulary, characters, listening skill, and speaking skill. This class is recommended for those preparing for the JLPT Level 2. There will be no make-up day for this class. $149

* No class on May 26

Note: The Kids Introduction classes and Adult classes require pre-registration before April 20 and Book Camp require pre-registration before May 31, 2008. (After the registration date, please call NC Japan Center at 919.513.3450.)
