The Renewable Energy Technologies Diploma Series is geared towards electrical contractors, building and electrical inspectors, builders and architects, small business owners, land owners, plumbers, HVAC firms, and other interested individuals who want to gain a higher level of professional training and understanding in the field of renewable energy. The series will also provide the necessary skills and information for those interested in expanding their businesses to include installation, maintenance, service, and creation of sustainable energy technologies. In addition, the courses offer preparatory classes for NABCEP certification in PV and Wind Energy installation.
The program will be helpful to those who wish to specialize in specific technologies such as electrical production from the sun and wind, solar thermal technologies, and alternative fuels production. Likewise, the series can be taken as an inter-disciplinary program for those who want a broad understanding of these available technologies.

The North Carolina Solar Center and North Carolina State University have established this non-credit diploma series to give you the necessary tools to use sustainable energy technologies to your advantage. Whether you are an architect, builder, electrician, plumber, businessperson, engineer or student, this program gives you the flexibility to choose courses that are essential and interesting to you.
It allows you to proceed with the built-in tracks and specialize in specific technologies or build an inter-disciplinary course that gives you a general understanding of the renewable energy industry. To receive your Renewable Energy Technologies Diploma, you need only complete 105 contact hours of required and elective courses. The weekly sessions or equivalent hours do not have to be taken in sequence, but all the requirements must be completed within a 3-year period.
Upon completion of the requirements, you will be expected to make a final 15-minute presentation on how you plan to apply your new knowledge to your profession. Your diploma from NC State University will then be awarded at a luncheon with classmates and colleagues in the field.
If you wish to take the individual one and two-day sessions instead of the week-long courses, then a $50 processing fee is required with the certificate application form. Please complete this form and submit it with your payment to the Office of Professional Development, Box 7401, Raleigh, NC 27695- 7401 or fax to 919.515.7614.
